Research Interests
My research interests are focused in etiologic studies of multi-factorial complex diseases such as prostate cancer, with the goal to advance the knowledge about genetic and environmental risk factors of this disease and develop prevention strategies that may reduce the public health burden of this cancer. I am also interested in examining the role of common genetic variants as well as lifestyle and environmental factors that may predispose to more adverse outcomes and may also contribute to cancer recurrence, progression and cancer-related mortality following primary diagnosis and treatment of cancer. During this research process I have been interested in exploring and applying novel analytical approaches to analyzing exposure-response relationships in etiological studies of cancer.
Areas of current research interest are:
Genetic susceptibility to prostate cancer
Associations between environmental / occupational exposures and prostate cancer risk
Impact of lifestyle factors and screening on prostate cancer risk and prognosis following diagnosis
Epidemiologic methods of analyzing exposure-response relationships in genetic epidemiologic studies
