Biostatistics is the development and application of quantitative methods to address scientific questions arising in medicine, biology and public health. The mission of the Division of Biostatistics is to advance knowledge in these fields by:

• Developing new statistical approaches for the design, conduct and analysis of biomedical research studies
• Collaborating on all phases of biomedical research
• Educating current and future investigators in the principles of biostatistics

Our methodologic research areas include clinical trials, epidemiologic methods, survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, frailty models, classification and regression trees, misclassification and measurement error, statistical genetics, and the analysis of high dimensional genomic and proteomic data.

We also collaborate on studies in cancer, cardiovascular disease, AIDS, aging, neurosciences, rheumatology, and health behaviors.
